Ugh. High-definition recording a bust so far

I picked up the pcHDTV card HD-5500 (specifically designed for Linux) and installed it tonight.

My goal was to use my MythTV box to record the basic digital and basic HD content.

Unfortunately, Suddenlink encrypts EVERY channel except the PPV Preview channel (which isn't even available on my digital set top box.) And with our rural location, I can't get any broadcast HD signals, either.I will say the card was easy to install and pretty simple to set up in MythTV however. The capture quality of the Analog was good for a non MPEG card. It doesn't come close the the quality of the PVR-250 card though, so I took it out and put it on a closet shelf. Maybe when I build my next MythTV box for the bedroom I'll use the pcHDTV card just to grab the analog, or else when I upgrade my Myth hardware to be running on something with a little more power I'll add it as a second tuner in the box.

I guess my next road is to investigate getting a firewire cable box from Suddenlink (yeah, right) so I can link it over firewire to my MythTV box.
