I've finally updated my blog into the modern age with a new backend engine and new custom theme. I was able to migrate all of the old posts over and retain the original URL's for everything so all the articles are in the same place still.

ModX Revolution is a pretty slick content management system for non-programmers. But, it has a few issues. For one thing, you cannot take a website developed on one server and drop it into another server without re-installing the framework completely.

Sorry folks but I've just killed the ability to post comments entirely. I love getting comments and carrying on conversations, but the 1000+ spam comments people try to post every month with a subject line of "respond this please" and spamming Viagra or essay writing or whatever was just too annoying.

Another New Drupal Theme

Okay, so I decided I agreed with Vermyndax that my last custom theme had puke colors. I wanted a dark theme for the site, but dark themes can be so hard to read that I didn't want to do that to my readers, so I went with a slightly blue/gray text area and a dark background. The text area isn't white so there wouldn't be a stark contrast between it and the black border to hurt your eyes. I think it's a good compromise. I still have some tweaking work to do, but I have to say I like it!
